Clay Township-based Landmark Builders Inc., which does business as Landmark Homes, is expanding beyond its 55-plus offering in Berks County with new single-family developments.

Landmark is building a model home in Woods Edge, a planned 208-lot community in suburban Douglasville.

It also has a speculative home going up at the 272-lot Willow Glen community in Ontelaunee Township, as well as a more upscale offering called Pondview Estates in Douglasville.

"We were receiving an increase in interest in Berks County and building in these communities is giving Landmark Homes the opportunity to grow in this market," said Laura Leonard, a new home marketing specialist.

Landmark has been building in Stonecroft Village for several years. Stonecroft is a 55-plus community in Womelsdorf with 23 acres of open space, walking trails, a community clubhouse and fitness center. Homes there start in the low $200,000s.

"We will keep building there as the market allows," Leonard said of the expected timeline for these new communities.

Woods Edge home plans range from 1,700 to 3,400 square feet, with prices starting in the upper $200,000s. The community has walking trails, a play area and natural open space.

Willow Glen homes start in the mid-$200,000s. That community includes a park with picnic pavilion, a playground, athletic fields and walking trails.

Pondview Estates has just 17 estate-size lots with farmland views and open space. Homes there start in the mid-$300,000s.

Last year, Landmark closed on 149 homes. The family-owned builder has communities in six counties in Central Pennsylvania.
