Are you thinking about what the future holds for you? Planning on spending your later years lying on the beach, hitting a golf ball or volunteering? Have you thought about where you are going to live – in your own home or a senior facility? What should you plan to do? What is the expense? Landmark Homes can help take the guess work out of your future with our 55+ communities.
The trend in the 55+ generation is “aging in place”. According to Patrick Roden RN, PhD, Certified Aging In Place Specialist (CAPS), ‘ “Aging in place” refers to living where you have lived for years, not typically in a health care environment or nursing home, using products, services, and conveniences which allow you to remain home as your circumstances change. In other words, you continue to live in the home of your choice safely and independently as you get older.’
Aging in place can be accomplished through a concept called universal design. Universal design is the idea that a home is built in order to be safer and more accessible to seniors and people with and without disabilities. Features that can be found in universal design are zero threshold entries, open floor space and wider doors and hallways.
Landmark Homes currently has several communities devoted to the aging in place lifestyle. Browse the neighborhoods of Carmella, Home Towne Square, The Crossings at Sweetbriar in Lebanon and Stonecroft Village, to view the relaxed atmosphere of our 55+ communities. Come visit our model homes to see the standard universal design features that are offered.
Enjoy growing older gracefully- surrounded by your things, in your home, in a neighborhood with walking trails, a community clubhouse and fitness center. Whether you’re retired or employed, rejoice in the knowledge that this is where you want to be.
