Central Penn Business Journal Awards

On August 8th, Central Penn's panel of independent judges announced the 2013 finalists. With only six finalists named in the category of mid-size businesses (51-100 employees), Landmark Homes is honored to have been selected.
Winners will be announced, and all finalists will be recognized, at a black-tie Business of the Year awards event on Monday, November 4th, to be held at the Hilton Harrisburg from 5:45-9:30 PM. Read more about the event here.

In a recent article by Central Penn Business Journal, Pennsylvania is described as "...the best state to live in from a retirement income standpoint," also stating that "...because Pennsylvania doesn't tax retirement income, the commonwealth becomes that much more attractive to baby boomers."
The article continues to describe the amenities that make 55+ communities so attractive to active adult retirees, listing first floor living, low or no maintenance, clubhouses, fitness centers, and walking trails.
In addition, Landmark Homes' 55+ communities are highlighted in the article, including the newly opened community, The Crossings at Sweetbriar.
Read more about the trends in the active adult housing market in the full article here.
A New Definition in Retirement
Home Towne Square Clubhouse"...many of today's so-called "senior citizens" are staying as active as ever and living the way they're accustomed to - independently, in their own homes. Home Towne Square, built by Lancaster County-based Landmark Homes, is a perfect example. It's a 55-plus community that looks like suburban enclaves all over America."
Home Towne Square was recently featured in Harrisburg Magazine, in an article highlighting the changing trends in active adult retirement communities and the ways in which Home Towne's amenities, character, unique homes, and residents create the ideal environment for today's active adults.
"This is a very active community," says Barbara Glass, 61, who moved into the neighborhood with her husband, Allen, 71, in March 2012. The development, for example, has walking trails for nice-weather strolls, room to bicycle. Plus, anchoring Phase One of what will eventually be a 300-home neighborhood, is the community center.
